Things to come

Hello...

I just want to say thank you to all my followers, supporters and customers. It has been a year of tears, hopes, dreams and wishes but I have picked myself up and dusted off the bad times. Running your own business is never an easy one and you have to put in a lot of time, effort, sweat and tears to get somewhere in life. I have not long settled in Derby and finding where best to sell my wares has just begun. Having recently exhibited with Sheena Hollands Markets, I have found a gem in which I hope I can grow from. I will hopefully be doing more fairs in the future.

In the meantime now Christmas is fast approaching, I will be hanging up my craft stalls until the spring. I will be looking at putting together some new ideas and ranges for the new year. My handmade items will be available to purchase from my Etsy shop....

My website is being currently being updated so bear with me as I will be having my new work uploaded and new features. You can still access my website if you wanted to take a peek :)

Having had such good feedback from the last few events, it is always lovely to see people smile and admire my work as they stop by my stall. All the hard work that goes into handmade arts and crafts is sometimes unforgotten and unnoticed. It is always lovely to see so many faces who take the time to talk and buy items no matter how small.

In the meantime, there is still time to purchase gifts for christmas including handmade items and cards. I look forward to any comments below and your support in the new year.

Merry Christmas from Bear in Mind Design

Night Market Derbyshire

I have been working on my new ranges, busy creating over the past few months and not had chance to update my blog. I am now updating and here is what I have been up to lately. I had the opportunity to showcase my work at a Christmas Night Market ran by Sheena Holland in Derby at The Old Bell. It was a successful night and I had a lovely time meeting new people/customers. It was great to hear all the positive comments and I would like to thank all that came by my stall. If you would like to purchase any of my items then please check out my Etsy shop:

Tea for Two

I have been working hard of late to put together some designs on to ceramics and create a range of products for the home. The tea design started as a illustration for a tote shopping bag and print for the kitchen. I have since expanded the design to a teapot with the help of my familys locally run pottery company.

I would love to know what people think of my new range and all comments are welcome. This item is available to purchase through my etsy page:

Work in Progress - Sneak Peeks

I have recently been working very hard networking and not updated my blog for a little while. Balancing a day job and then putting your all into your night job can be a very long and pressuring time. At times you feel your not getting anywhere, other times you receive some lovely feedback it keeps you going. I believe in what I do and with this I keep on going each and every day with or without the motivation, I get up and work on.

I have been getting some new designs together and would like as much feedback as possible. I am a designer and work with a variety of mediums. I am looking to putting together some ranges so my new work will all tie in together. I have attached a few sneak peek pictures so you can see what ive been up to :)

Oh Crumbs!

Getting creative in the Kitchen after a quick photoshoot of some new designs. I decided to get out the baking stuff, mixing bowl and make something to tingle the tastebuds. Here is my recipe step by step guide if you fancy making some of this delicious treats yourself :)

Lemon Curd Cookies

Ingredients:

220g Soft Golden Butter
110g Sweet Caster Sugar
60g Soft and light Icing Sugar
1 Large Chicken Egg
1 Tiny Spoon of Almond Exact
Finely grated Lemon Zest
Juice of a Lemon
300g Plain ordinary Flour
1 Tiny Spoon of fizzy Baking Powder

To Decorate:

Lots of Lemon Curd.

Lets Get Baking:

Preheat your Oven at a hot and toasty 190 Degrees/Gas Mark 5.

Mixing it up in a bowl with a large wooden spoon gather your caster sugar and butter until fluffy and light in colour. Mix in the sweet icing sugar, egg from a chicken, almond exact, lemon zest and juice. Give it a good old stir. Add the plain flour and baking powder until its one big lump of yummy dough.

Blob on small balls of the mixture on to a lined baking tray leaving gaps for them to be individual and squish in the middle leaving a dip for your lemon curd.

Bake for 10-12 tick tock minutes until golden brown.

Add the lemon curd once cooled and don't eat all at once. Sharing is Caring

Enjoy :)

Branded

A brand is a very important and vital part to any business whether you are an independant or corporate company. It sets you apart from others and makes you stand out from the crowd selling what you make, create and offer on a plate.

So how do you get a great brand? Well you need to think about what you have to give, what makes you unique, who your target audience are and most importantly it needs to relate a true representation of what you are about. Everything within your business must relate or have some connection to your brand to keep it concise. There is nothing worse than having your packaging consist of plastic shopping bags and your business be all about recycled goods and natural organic products.

When you walk into that business or visually view them online you want to see something strong, bold and pretty. It has to make you smile when you see it and make you want to come back for more. Treat it almost like family. Branding is vital and a great tool in making your product shine.

If you want to shine and make the most of your business then I can offer advice and even help brand your business that suits you best :) Get in touch for more :)

White White White

Having previously framed my LP's artwork in black frames, I have now invested in some white frames to give my customers a choice. If you would like one of my painted LP's or would like your very own personalised LP piece of art framed in either black or white frame then let me know when puting your order in. I have attached some pictures of some recent art framed in the new white frames. Looking good :)

Out of this World

With my head in the stars I got inspired by the night sky and found these amazing LP's with star/space titles. Getting inspired by stars, colours and painting effects, I created a series of starry paintings as a theme for my LP's. Using acrylics and a ranges of brushes and art tools, making an atmospheric and striking set of artwork with a unique style. These pieces come framed and ready for any home or studio wall. If you are interested in these pieces or would like your very own personalised framed LP art, get in touch:
